Lee County Schools would like to recognize Wendell Brandenburg for going above and beyond. Mr. Brandenburg has helped our transportation department, students and staff for decades. He shows up to work daily and helps with whatever is needed. After school, there is no telling how many miles that he has traveled with various clubs, extra-curricular groups and athletic teams over the years. If you were involved with any group after school, there is a good chance Wendell was your driver a time or ten. Please help us tell Mr. Brandenburg know how much we appreciate him.

Lee County Schools would like to recognize Candice Jewell for going above and beyond. Mrs. Jewell helps coordinate and lends a hand with lots of our daily events at Lee County Elementary. She helps our less experienced staff from lessons to planning. If you are at LCE, LCMHS or a baseball field around, you will see her spending countless hours helping and supporting lots of our student athletes. The next time you see Mrs. Jewell, let her know how much she is appreciated.

Lee County Schools would like to recognize Chuck Caudill for going above and beyond. Mr. Caudill has always helped with clubs, auctions and anything that was needed for many years. Last year, he became a full time teacher for us at LCMHS. He has excelled ever since. Recently, he used his vast theater experience to help our students produce and perform one of our first plays in many years. Many departments and students took part and it all came together. Please tell Mr. Caudill how much we appreciate him when you see him.

Lee County Schools would like to recognize Tim Jewell for going above and beyond. Mr. Jewell comes in everyday with a smile on his face and a great attitude. He helps whoever he can throughout every day. He has helped a lot in our cafeteria from serving to washing dishes. We appreciate everything Mr. Jewell does for our students, staff and school. Please tell Tim how much we appreciate him when you see him.

Lee County Schools will not be in session on Monday, November 11th in recognition of Veteran's Day. We would like to thank our veteran's and all enlisted for their service to our country. Thank you!

Lee County Schools would like to recognize Tyler Hayes as one of our above and beyond recipients. Over the summer, Tyler was hired to teach Middle School Math, coach our Bobcat basketball team and became our district athletic director. He is excited to return to the classroom and also help the district however he can. You will no doubt see him at various athletic events and ball games over the course of the year.

In a way to be transparent, Lee County Schools wants to send out information and communicate with parents, staff and community. The safety of our students, staff and community is and will continue to be our #1 priority. Lee County Schools does not have an infestation of bed bugs. Our first sighting was in materials coming into our school around 2 weeks ago. We have had all areas at both schools professionally cleaned by Bluegrass Pest Control. After the initial sighting, we have seen less than 10 bed bugs, all in isolated locations in the district. Those isolated areas have then been treated by either professional services, our maintenance staff or both. Our schools are safe and we will continue to address issues as they arise. We also understand that we could clean diligently for days, weeks or months but bed bugs can migrate to schools once we start back. Since bed bugs are a migrating insect, we will continue to monitor, clean and stay proactive. Lee County Schools mitigation strategies: -Calls and letters have been sent to keep all stakeholders informed -Buildings have been professionally sprayed by Bluegrass Pest control -Our maintenance department has been sprayed and fogged all rooms at LCMHS and continue to fog as needed -Buses have been sprayed and buses will be fogged as needed -Information has been added regarding bed bugs on district website in order to support prevention -Students are not bringing in personal items into the building, such as backpacks -We will be providing clear vinyl backpacks to all students -Staff have been asked to declutter rooms -Home visits have been made to support families -In cases of recurrence we have contacted and enlisted appropriate social agencies -We have been in contact with the local health department for information, education and strategies for prevention and extinction -Contacted other school systems and agencies regarding their processes -Purchased special heaters for chrome books, books, clothes, etc. to help prevent anything from being brought into the schools -Limited objects and materials going home and returning

Lee County Schools would like to recognize Mr. Tony Barrett for being one of our October Above and Beyond recipients. Mr. Barrett works with our band and music program during school but also many hours after school and during the summer for our Marching Band and Pep Band. We chose Mr. B as a recipient prior to the state competition for his dedication and commitment to our Band program. Our band, under his leadership, then made finals at the Class A State Competition in Louisville and placed 5th in the state. Congratulations to Mr. Barrett, our band students and all our band parents (and staff).

In honor of National Bus Safety Week Lee County Schools would like to say thanks to all of our Bus Drivers. We really appreciate all that you do each and every day for our Students and the Lee County School District.

Lee County Schools would like to keep everyone informed to our upcoming important Fall and winter dates. We want everyone to come to school and learn but we also know a little relaxation and family time goes a long way. There is no school on the following dates: Woolly Worm break is from October 24th through 28th, Presidential election is on November 5th, Veteran's Day is on November 11th, Thanksgiving break is from November 27th through November 29th Christmas break is from December 23rd through January 6th Thank you for your continued support and have a great Woolly Worm Festival.

Lee County Schools would like to recognize Ashley Smith as one of our September Staff Above and Beyond Recipients. Mrs. Smith transitioned from LCE teacher to LCE Guidance Counselor over the summer. She has been learning her new role but also been implementing many of her own plans and programs that will impact students. She was taking her Safe Crisis Management training when we took the photo. Thank you Mrs. Smith!

Due to Lee County Schools closing, Lee County Schools Food Service will be dispersing meals today at 12 pm until 1 pm. The dispersal will be at back entrance to the high school as we did during Summer Feeding.

There will be NO school in Lee County on Monday, September 30, 2024. There are downed trees on bus routes and still many without power. This will NOT be an NTI day.

Lee County Schools will be closed on Friday, September 27th due to inclement weather with the potential for flooding, downed trees, wind and potential loss of electricity. Buildings will be closed to staff and students. This will NOT be an NTI day.

We wanted our Bobcat family to know some of the safety precautions that are place daily to make student and staff safety our top priority.

The Lee County School system would like to say thanks to both the Lee County Road Crew and the State Road Crew for working to make sure all of our bus routes are clear and safe to travel.
