In official action during the August 13, 2024 regular school board meeting, County Judge Executive Steve Mays swore in Gregory Stewart Brandenburg as the first Police Chief of the Lee County Schools Police Department. Chief Brandenburg will serve as SRO at Lee County Elementary School and will be a presence at extracurricular events and at LCMHS as needed. Chief Brandenburg will work closely with current LCMHS SRO John Marshall to provide safe and secure buildings at all district sites. Safe Schools Coordinator Phillip Angel said the district now has the "...best school resource officer team in the state." Superintendent Shuler added that the district has now met the state mandate that requires an SRO at each campus location. He further stated, "The Board, Mr. Angel, and I have been working to put an SRO in place at Lee County Elementary Schools for several months. This was not only to meet the state requirement, but to help ensure a secure environment for ALL Lee County students. Safety is always our first concern." Chief Brandenburg's first day on the job will be August 14. Lee County Schools Police Chief Greg Brandenburg was sworn in by County Judge Executive Steve Mays during the August 13, 2024 Lee County Board of Education regular meeting. In his role as Police Chief, Greg will serve as School Resource Officer at Lee County Elementary School and LCMHS as needed to support LCMHS School Resource Officer John Marshall. Due to maintenance at the school, dispersal will be at the front of Lee County High School at the entrance to the Sedley Stewart Auditorium and The Gymnasium. If you were unable to attend today, please try to come out on Friday, July 19th from 9 am to 6 pm at the High School Gym lobby. This is a reminder that our Lee County Schools Registration event is scheduled for Thursday (7-18) and Friday (7-19) from 9 am to 6 pm in the LCMHS Gym lobby. You can come at any time during either day. We will be collecting valuable updated student information prior to Day 1 of school. You can complete paperwork during the event or you can print paperwork by going to www.lee.kyschools.us (School registration). Bring this paperwork with you to speed up the process.

Lee County Schools Superintendent Earl Ray Shuler and members of the school board recognized retirees Sherry Profitt and Michelle Estes during the June 11, 2024 board meeting. Ms. Profitt, Central Office Administrative Assistant II, leaves with 27 years of service. Ms. Estes, LCMHS teacher and Athletic Director, leaves with 34 years of service. Both ladies have been assets to the district and will be greatly missed. Retiring LCES teacher Linda Begley was also recognized but was not in attendance.

While we are proud of all our students and graduates, we are especially proud of the achievements of our LCMHS Class of 2024. Please come out and support the Class of 2024, their parents/guardians, our staff, our schools and our staff on Sunday, May 26th at 3 pm in the Heber Dunaway Gymnasium at LCMHS.
